Today, August 24, 2010, Jerome Alexander Wilson, a graduating student of the Yallahs Primary School was presented with an award as he was recently selected as the 2010 Warren O'Neil Wallace Scholarship recipient. He was presented with a disbursement in the amount of J$27,000.00. Jerome was successful in his GSAT examinations and was awarded a place at Wolmer's Boys' School. In photos Jerome and his mom receive his award as well as a sum to start a Junior Saver Account with The NAJ Co-op Credit Union. Presentation were made by Warren's mom as well as the Credit Union Manager.
On July 1, 2009, another little family was made happy. Aldane Christopher Cleveland Walters a graduating student of the Yallahs Primary School was selected as the 2009 Warren O'neil Wallace Scholarship. He was presented with a letter of commitment for payment in the amount of J$25,000.00. Aldane was successful in his GSAT examinations and was awarded a place at Wolmer's Boys' School.
Aldane, an exemplary student at the school who is not only bright, sings and its said he would don an apron and take lunches to all the teachers in the school. Kinda reminds us of Christ's example of donning the towel and washing the disciples feet.
We wish Aldane and his family well.
On October 20, 2006 [Warren's 15th birthday] a little family was made very happy.
David Andrew "Andy" Miller, was presented with a cheque for $2,000.00 dollars which he was encouraged to use for opening a Junior Saver's account at the NAJ Co-op Credit Union, to which he agreed.
Andy was selected from the only two boys from the parish of St. Thomas to have been awarded a place at Wolmer's Boys' School. Based on our interview of his teachers at his Alma Mater as well as his peers, neighbours and parents he appears to be a wonderful boy and in many respects remind us of WOW.
We both encouraged him to continue to live up to his christian traditions as well as the high expectations which all have of him. We prayed for his success and expressed our joy in being able to make this small gesture to him which could help in making this success probable. We made him know that we truly believe Warren would have wanted us to do this. We also expresed the desire to be updated on his progress.
A further $20,000.00 was presented to his parents to assist in defraying the cost of his tuition for the Academic year 2007/2007. His dad, Melverton, received this on his behalf.
Reverend Neil, the school's Chaplain who is also a member of the Guidance Department, represented the school. The Yallahs Baptist church [where we are members] was represented by Bro. Robert Brown. Also present were David's mom and siblings [who missed the scope of the camera], Mrs. Josephine Malcolm, Manager of the Credit Union, who made David's presentation to him and veteran photographer and family friend: Aston Spaulding. Andy was also presented with a certificate as a keepsake as well as a photo of the little boy who made it possible.
In his reply, Andy expressed gratitude for being selected and promised to do well.

Andy continues to keep in touch with us, sometimes just riding his bicycle by our home to enquire if we are ok. He has been doing well in school.
What made this gesture possible?
At his passing, Warren had a little saving stashed away in his NAJ credit union account (Nurses Association of Jamaica Cooperative Credit union) where he was a member. In the first three weeks of his brief stay in third form, he saved an additional sum from his lunch money.
In honour of his memory and in keeping with his kindheartedness and selflessness, we have decided to use his savings to assist a GSAT (Grade Six Achievement Test) student from St. Thomas to attend Wolmer's Boys' School. Charity begins at home, we taught him, hence the emphasis on St. Thomas, his home parish.
Initially we will pay the first year's tuition and the cost of books. The first year we realise is always hardest for some - at times appearing almost insurmountable.
It is our intention to build on what Warren started; hence we are hoping that in time, more needy students may be helped.
In an effort to maintain full transparency, the fund will be handled entirely by the NAJ Cooperative Credit union. School vouchers for the selected student would be presented to NAJCCU which in turn would make payments in the form of cheques to the School’s Bank and bookshop. In this year's case payments were already made by the recipient's parents hence their reimbursal.
