At his passing Warren had a little saving stashed away in his NAJ credit union account (Nurses Association of Jamaica Cooperative Credit union) where he was a member. In the first three weeks of his brief stay in third form, he saved an additional sum from his lunch money.
In honour of his memory and in keeping with his kindheartedness and selflessness, we have decided to use his savings to assist a GSAT (Grade Six Achievement Test) student from St. Thomas to attend Wolmer's Boys' School. Charity begins at home, we taught him, hence the emphasis on St. Thomas, his home parish.
Initially we would pay the first year's tuition and the cost of books.
It is our intention to build on what he started; hence we are hoping that in time, more needy students may be helped.
The selection process is in its development stage but will be ready for next Academic year 2005/2006 if the Lord tarries and all goes well.
We’ve had pledges (in future contributions to the venture) from close friends and family members and in an effort to maintain full transparency, the fund will be handled entirely by the NAJ Cooperative Credit union. School vouchers for the selected student would be presented to NAJCCU which in turn would make payments in the form of cheques to the School’s Bank and bookshop.
